"Child Care Lessons from Down Under" (Public Interest Alberta)
The debate over the shape of Canada's national child care program is far from over. That debate will receive an injection of valuable advice from a well-known Australian child care advocate who has witnessed massive changes in her own country.
Alberta has signed a childcare agreement with the federal government but must develop much more detailed long-range action plans in the coming months. The infusion of federal government funding for child care is seen by many as a solution to Alberta's patchwork system. However, the funding agreement is not necessarily a positive move for public; non-profict child care.
