Description
My name is Dr. Pauline Francis, PhD.

My registered Consulting Business is called: "Learn it in a Day Consulting Services". "ASL in a Day" is one of the workshops my business conducts. Website: www.learnitinaday.com; e-mail: learnitinadayconsulting@gmail.com ; phone:(780) 399-1800.  I am interested in providing your organization with workshops entitled “ASL in a day”.

The assumption in registering for this basic communication workshop will be that participants have NO prior knowledge in American Sign Language. The focus will thus be on basic numbering systems & alphabet (simple finger spelling), along with key vocabulary for communication. This workshop relies heavily on practical application of skills as opposed to handouts. Participants will receive information relative to websites from which they can download workshop learnings, as well as resources for furthering their learnings.

LOCATION: Workshops are held at the location of the Sponsoring Agency, or at a community location (i.e. library) for individuals / groups less than 5.
INSTRUCTING/MATERIAL:
There are NO “materials costs” to your department or registrants as I have all needed supplies & resources (print…) myself.

As ASL is a visual language, and this is a basic level introduction, there is no text required; I do many activities centered around individual & group active participation, as that will maximize learning. At the end, I refer participants to websites / texts for continued learning.

* My central goal is to allow people to better communicate and interact with citizens who use signing as a means of conversation. Extra communication words & activities is a possibility if you wish for me to provide a sequel session “ASL in a Day #2”.

* MY RATIONALE FOR PROVIDING THIS WORKSHOP IS ON MY WEBSITE.
