EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM FACILITATOR
Immigrant Services Calgary is seeking an After School Program Facilitator (Location: Forest Lawn) to be responsible for organizing, facilitating and evaluating developmentally appropriate and culturally sensitive programming to children/youth ages 6 to 12 years of age. The after school program will be delivered in two different communities. This is a part time position, based on 20 hours per week.
Duties: Plan sessions and organize materials. Assist in session preparation and clean up. Facilitate programming for groups and/or individuals. Work together with co facilitators and community partners to organize age-appropriate activities that include: music, drama, arts and crafts, sports, homework help and field trips. Perform administrative tasks as required. Document and report any disclosures of abuse to the Mosaic Centre Manager. Inform the Program Coordinator and Mosaic Centre Manager of families at risk and assist in follow-up (i.e. referrals to counseling and community services).
Qualifications: Degree/Diploma/Certificate in the area of Social Sciences. Experience working with families and children ages 6-12 years. Strong knowledge of child/youth development, appropriate learning tools and recreational activities. Cultural sensitivity and experience related to multicultural service delivery. Ability to work independently. First Aid Certificate. Police Clearance Check. Second language is an asset.
