An understanding of how the 'helper' may be impacted by VICARIOUS (Secondary) TRAUMA while assisting others. 4 or 6 HOURS - * sponsoring agency decides on time frame.

OBJECTIVES: Participants will:
• Understand the dynamics of Vicarious Trauma” based on research
• Explore ways in which they can be personally impacted by the population they are exposed to.
• Examine contributing factors to “Vicarious Trauma”
• Understand the difference between “Burn Out”, “Stress”, and “Vicarious Trauma”
• Explore Mitigating Factors for countering the effects of Vicarious Trauma
• Understand Organizational Dynamics that may affect one’s performance, or ability to deal with VT.
• Overview strategies for managing VT

NOTE: This workshop may be incorporated with linked workshop ("Dealing with Stress in the Workplace" for site-specific analysis -- see "Business Endeavors" section of website)
