Annual Conference 2011
2011 ACSW Annual Conference
April 28 - 30, 2011
Theme: Social Workers as Nation Builders: Speaking Truth to Power
Calgary Telus Convention Centre, 120 Ninth Avenue SE
Registration has closed.
This year's theme is: Social Workers as Nation Builders: Speaking Truth to Power.
Speaking Truth to Power is a phrase originating from the American Quaker Movement. Today, more than ever, social workers have a unique opportunity to speak the truth to governments at all levels. As our Code of Ethics proclaims: "Social workers promote social fairness and the equitable distribution of resources, and act to reduce barriers and expand choice for all persons, with special regard for those who are marginalized, disadvantaged, vulnerable, and/or have exceptional needs." Social workers participate in social discourses for the development of social policies and programs that serve Albertans. We strive to make Alberta a fair and just society for all. Conference Proposals will highlight work that is improving our society on both the micro and macro level.
