Shannon Marchand's Presentation
Shannon is leading a team to implement Minister Hancock’s mandate priority to develop a social policy framework to guide the alignment and redesign of social policy and programs to achieve better outcomes for children and families. Prior to this assignment, Shannon was Assistant Deputy Minister of Workforce Supports, providing leadership and direction for the province’s labour force strategy, Building and Educating Tomorrow’s Workforce. In this role he was also responsible for policy and program design for Alberta Works training and employment services, health benefits, child support services and income support. Shannon joined the Alberta Public Service in 1996, and has a Master’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Alberta.
Diana Gibson, Research Director, Parkland Institute
Diana Gibson is the Research Director of the Parkland Institute, a social policy research centre based at the University of Alberta. She has worked as an educator, researcher and program director nationally and internationally. She has an extensive record of publications as a political economist in areas of health care, inequality, trade and energy policy.
