Alberta College of Social Workers 2012 Awards
Deadline for Nominations - January 31, 2012
ACSW members are invited to submit nominations for the following awards:
The John Hutton Memorial Award for Social Action/Policy recognizes a Registered Social Worker in good standing who has made an outstanding contribution to the profession of social work and the community through social action/policy.
The ACSW Award for Excellence in Social Work Practice recognizes Registered Social Workers in good standing who have exhibited exemplary skills and commitment to the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice of the ACSW in a variety of practice settings and inclusive of a range of professional experience.
Honourary Membershipsmay be awarded to a person or group that has made a significant contribution to the values and ideals inherent in the profession of social work and who have advanced the goals of the ACSW. Nominees in this category are not Registered Social Workers.
Nominations must be submitted to the ACSW office by January 31, 2012.

Submissions should include:
· a clear rationale for your nomination
· the nominee's resume
· any supporting documentation

The Nominations and Recruitment Committee will review the nominees and make recommendations regarding award recipients to Council for approval. The awards will be presented at the Annual General Meeting in Edmonton.

Awards Review Guidelines
Nominations should include:
1. Letter outlining reasons for specific award nomination
2. Current resume of nominee
3. Two RSW nominators
4. Relevant supporting documents
The following questions will be used to guide the selection process:
A. John Hutton Memorial Award for Social Action/Policy
This award recognizes outstanding contribution to the profession of social work and the community through social action/policy.
1. What was the unmet community need?
2. What was the social action/policy?
3. What makes the achievement outstanding?
4. What was the impact on the community?
B. Excellence in Social Work Practice
This award recognizes exemplary practice and commitment that has been demonstrated over time.
1. What was the exemplary practice?
2. What examples of commitment to the Code of Ethics & Standards
of Practice were demonstrated?
3. What was the impact on clients, workplace, community?
C. Honourary Membership
This award recognizes non-social workers who have made a significant contribution to the values and ideals of social work and who have advanced the goals of ACSW.
1. What was/were the significant contribution(s)?
2. Which values and ideals of social work were involved?
3. Which ACSW goals were advanced?
